Understanding Google Sheets for Online Content Creators
As an online content creator, you juggle many tasks—brainstorming, creating, recording, editing, publishing, and more. That's where Google Sheets for online content creators can make your life easier. Imagine it as a digital whiteboard that organizes your thoughts, tasks, and collaborations all in one place. But how does it work, and why should you care? Let's break it down.
What is Google Sheets?
In simple terms, Google Sheets is a free, online spreadsheet application offered by Google. Think of it like Microsoft Excel's internet-savvy cousin. It's cloud-based, meaning you can access it from anywhere with internet access—your phone, your laptop, or even a cafe halfway across the world.
And if you're proficient with Excel, using Google Sheets is very similar so you'll be able to get around easily without a lot of help.
A Google Sheets Template is simply a pre-made spreadsheet that you can easily take and customize, or use as is, in your business, to help you organize your business allowing you to be more productive! 🙌🏼
Why Use Google Sheets Templates?
So, why should you even consider using Google Sheets templates for your business? Here are a few key features:
Easy to Use: I think that most people have used spreadsheets before and if not, simple spreadsheets are fairly easy to learn. While you can get very complicated spreadsheets, you don't need to have a degree in Google to use Google Sheets templates to organize your business.
Flexibility: Whether you're planning a content calendar, tracking analytics, or managing budgets, Google Sheets is versatile enough to handle it all.
Collaboration: Google Sheets allows multiple users to work on the same document at the same time. Everyone sees updates in real time, so no more worrying about losing track of the latest version.
Accessibility: You've got a killer idea but no access to your main computer? No problem. As long as you have internet access, Google Sheets is there with your information, ready when you are. Google Sheets has a mobile app you can download on any device.
Benefits of Google Sheets for Content Creators
Spreadsheets in general have a wide array of benefits, but in terms of content creators, here are some benefits of using Google Sheets templates for business organization
Enhanced Organization: Keep your projects and deadlines neatly tucked into spreadsheets, reducing the chaos in your workflow.
Increased Productivity: By having all your essential data in one place, you spend less time hunting for information and more time creating content.

Your Blog Post & SEO Template is just as it sounds. It's a list of all your blog posts whether published, drafted, or in ideation. It also tracks all the pertinent SEO data like keywords, backlinks, images, etc.
5. Task Management/Prioritization Template
The Task Management/Prioritization Template is your go-to for prioritizing and tracking (or assigning) tasks and tracking progress. If you haven't found a time management technique that works for you yet (my personal favourite is time blocking, specifically with Sunsama), then this type of Google Sheets template might be perfect for you!
6. Product & Freebie Template
With the Product & Freebie Google Sheets Template, you can track product ideation and creation, related Freebies, what topic cluster of blog posts they relate to, etc.
The Product Tracker you see below is from the Efficient Biz Builder (EBB) Membership and includes a creation checklist to ensure all products go through the same rigorous quality control.

Monitoring where your money goes is crucial for anyone running their own business. The Monthly Budget Tracker helps you keep a close eye on income and expenses.
Having a good budget allows you to save for those annual expenses that always seem to sneak up on a person.
9. Invoice Template
An attractive and clear invoice can reflect your professionalism. The Invoice Template ensures you have a smooth invoicing process, which is essential for any professional content creator striving for a streamlined operation.
If you're using an all-in-one business platform like (this is an affiliate link) Subtrio, then you won't have to worry about this one.
10. Affiliate Marketing Tracker Template
If you work with affiliate programs, this tool is invaluable. The Affiliate Marketing Tracker offers a place to manage affiliate links and track commissions. It keeps your partnerships and earnings transparent and efficient.
11. Testimonial Tracker Template
Collecting client feedback or testimonials can boost credibility. The Testimonial Tracker allows you to neatly organize testimonials so you can showcase them when needed.
Pro-tip: A spreadsheet is a great place to save an image of a testimonial (like a Facebook comment) by inserting an image into a cell.
12. Analytics Dashboard Template
Understanding performance metrics is key to future growth. The Analytics Dashboard Template provides a bird's-eye view of your content's performance. This way, you can adapt and improve your strategies based on real data.
You can eliminate this template if you build analytics into each template that you want to track performance, like emails, affiliates, etc.
13. Membership Template
If you offer memberships, keeping track of them can be cumbersome. The Membership Tracker simplifies managing member profiles and benefits, ensuring everyone gets what they signed up for.
This is also the perfect place to track what products or services are offered within your membership and plan for future content drops.
14. Course Tracker Template
Learning never stops for most content creators. The Course Tracker helps you keep tabs on courses you're enrolled in, enhancing your skills and knowledge at your own pace.
And if you're like me, you've signed up for 92 courses (most of them I find through free bundles), have started 4, and completed 1. Yup, I admit, I'm one of those people. Sigh.
15. Guest Post Tracker Template
Thinking about collaboration? The Guest Post Google Sheets Tracker tracks pitches, submissions, and content from guest contributors. It makes collaboration seamless and rewarding.
16. Coupon Code Tracker
Promotional offers can boost engagement, but they need to be well-organized. The Coupon Code Tracker helps you manage and track the codes used in your business, ensuring all promotions run smoothly.
17. Social Media Planning Template
An all-in-one Social Media Planning Template can help you plan, schedule, organize and syndicate content across several platforms. Again, make sure to link to your Social Media SOP
From my experience, an all-in-one spreadsheet of this kind is best used when only one post per day is being scheduled. If you're doing multiple posts on each platform every day, a separate spreadsheet for each platform is easier to organize and use.
18. Facebook Content Template
With a Facebook Planner Template, you can organize your posts by date, time, and content type. You can keep track of everything from promotional posts to audience engagement strategies.
20. Pinterest Planner Template
Pinterest Planner Template, you can strategize your pinning by planning out your content like the board, pin title, keyword phrase, description, URL, and pin image.
You can easily then take this information and copy/paste in your scheduler of choice. At this moment I use Pinterest's native scheduler, but I will likely move to Tailwind so I can schedule farther than 30 days in the future.
21. Instagram Planner Template
Instagram is all about the aesthetic, and with the Instagram Planner Template, you can lay out your grid to look as stunning as a gallery wall. This template lets you schedule posts, plan captions, and even design your feed’s visual flow.
22. YouTube Planner Template
Creating YouTube content involves more than just shooting videos. The YouTube Planner Template helps you organize everything from video topics to upload schedules. It ensures you're consistent, which is key to growing your channel.
With these Google Sheets for online content creators, you won't just survive the social media wilderness—you'll thrive in it!
23. Brain Dump Template
I should have actually included this template closer to the top of the list just for the sheer importance of it. As entrepreneurs, we are usually EVERYTHING in our business which means that the amount of ideas, thoughts, things to do, random grocery items to pick up, etc. that can run through our minds at any given time can cause paralysis when trying to work.
The Brain Dump Template will allow you to write down all your thoughts and then organize and prioritize (if it's a task) allowing you to empty your mind of the chaos and then focus on what needs to be done that day.
24. SOP Tracker Templates
You knew I wouldn't forget this one! An easy way to track all your SOPs is in an SOP Tracker Template spreadsheet. Now you might say, can't I just save my SOPs in the other related Google Sheets templates? The answer is yes and no.
I would do a dedicated SOP spreadsheet template. Why? Because you'll need one to track all the SOPs that don't easily fall into one of your business Google Sheets templates. For example, you might have an SOP on “how you name your files and where you save files”, but you probably don't have a Google Sheets template for that.
It will become super confusing to have some SOPs listed in an SOP Tracker spreadsheet template and others listed in a different template. For this reason alone I'd create the SOP Tracker template.
Create your Blog Post SOP easily with this template that is pre-filled out with common blogging steps!

25. Ad Tracker Template
Have you taken out paid ads? Do you remember where they were posted, how much they cost, how long they lasted, and what conversion did you get on them? These are just a few things you can track when you set up an Ad Tracker Template.
What Google Sheets Template Will You Try First?
You can combine some of these templates or create additional ones as required. The options are endless and there is no right or wrong answer in how you organize your business using Google Sheets templates.
I personally love spreadsheets, and they are still my number one favourite organizational tool. I'm an old-school spreadsheet girl, I used (and still use sometimes) Excel, in fact, I have a somewhat abandoned Excel For Newbies website. So if you think that Google Sheets (or even Excel) will work for you, you're in good company. 😉
So, which template do you want to try first? Join the Facebook Group and let me know what template you're most interested in. I'm in the process of creating and testing them as I write this (summer of 2024).
