Notion Calendar App: 10 Best Features of the New Notion App
It finally happened! The moment all Notion users have been waiting for <insert drumroll>, Notion has released its new calendar app (January 2024), which allows you to integrate all your databases and notes in notion, into your calendar.
The Notion Calendar is an updated version of the Cron app that Notion acquired back in 2022, so if you've used that app before, you basically know how to use Notion's Calendar app.

What is the Notion Calendar App
The Notion Calendar app is a separate app (not an added-on feature to Notion) that allows you to integrate Notion databases and your Google Calendar all in one. Amazing and so welcoming!
Recall the old calendar in Notion that allowed you to create a calendar view in your database but you couldn't see the times each task (for example) was occurring.
To get started, go to the Notion Calendar website and download the app there for free. If you are new to Notion, get your Notion account here, and then set up your account.
Note that Notion Calendar is available in Windows, Mac OS, iOS, and on your browser at calendar.notion.so. At the time of this blog, there was no Android app, but it's in the works.
The 10 Best Features
Alright, let's jump right to some great features:
1. Integrate Multiple Google Calendar Accounts
Yes, you read that right, you can now integrate/overlay your personal Google calendar and your professional Google calendar, and create different rules for viewing in each (great for if you're sharing with team members – more on that below).
2. Integrate with 3rd Party Tools
Notion Calendar can integrate with Google Calendar, Zoom, and Google Meet, but it doesn't integrate with al of them, for example, Outlook. Hopefully, future updates allow for more integration with popular tools.
3. Integrate Multiple Databases into One Calendar
This is by far the coolest and best new feature Notion has come out with. You know all those databases you have and that you WISH you could combine into one calendar view – your wishes have been granted!
For this to work though, you must have the calendar view set up in each of the databases. So this is NOT a linked database where you have linked to a database say on a different page, I'm referring to a calendar view right in the main database location. This allows Notion Calendars to pick it up.

4. Create a New Task Right in the Notion Calendar
You can create new events right in the Notion Calendar and it will update the Notion database in Notion automatically. Notion and Notion Calendar speak back and forth to each other allowing for seamless updating – a 2-way sync!
And don't forget to set a reminder if your task has a due date!
5. Drag and Drop feature
Drag and drop your task from one day to the next, or from one time frame to the next. You can drag items for weeks! The best part – the database information in Notion will automatically update with the changes you make in the Notion Calendar. Sweet, right?
One downside that I'm hoping will be fixed in future updates is that if you don't have a date noted in the Notion Database, it won't show up anywhere on the calendar. It would be nice if there was a section somewhere that would note unscheduled items and you could drag and drop where you wanted them.
6. See Your Team Schedules
You can overlay your team schedules on top of your own schedule. This is particularly useful when trying to book team meetings.
7. Track Multiple Time Zones
Notion Calendar has this great feather that is useful for business owners who have remote teams in different time zones. When you overlay a team member's schedule onto your own, you'll be able to see that a meeting happening at say 10:00 am your time is 3:00 pm your team member's time.
8. Note “Busy Times (Calendar Blocking)
Don't want everyone to know that you're taking ballet classes? No worries! Notion Calendar allows you to change some or all of your appointments to show as busy to maintain some privacy while still allowing you to integrate personal and professional calendars.
9. Availability Scheduling
Have you ever used Calendly? Well, Notion Calendar has a feature that mimics it. You can choose time blocks in which you are free to do meetings and then allow other people to book that time with you by indicating the timeslot they want and booking it with their email address, just like in Calendly.
Once someone has booked the time slot they are interested in, the rest of the blocks become available again.
10. Add Notion Pages to Calendar Events
So let's say that you keep meeting notes in Notion and you want to attach them to your meeting. No problem! Notion Calendar allows you to attach pages from your Notion workspace and add them to your calendar appointment, Once you click on it in the calendar, it'll take you directly to that page in Notion.
